Reliable Buff offers advantages to using its conventional style buffs. We take pride in manufacturing the highest quality conventional buffs in the industry by utilizing the techniques established by the founder of the company. First quality fabrics are spread, then die cut to the proper diameter while establishing a pinhole center. Each buff is then built to the thickness specified and each disc of cloth is turned to distribute the thread ends evenly around the wheel's periphery. This process guarantees longer life and quality finishing capabilities. After the sewing operation, we cut the arbor hole and face the buffs with a combed edge to insure a uniform finishing surface that runs true and balanced. Conventional buffs are labor intensive and Reliable Buff follows strict process controls to ensure each step is correctly performed. Allow us to customize a buffing wheel for your specific needs.
Loose Buffs
Primarily used for color buffing, these wheels are constructed using high quality fabrics held together by one or two rows of sewing around the arbor hole. In addition, loose buffs are used for satin finishing with greaseless compound.

Stitched Buffs
These are the most general purpose style of buffing wheel. The buffs are made by sewing layers of fabric together. Standard thickness is 1/4" face; however most buffers prefer 1/2" face or 1" face (maximum). By using thicker buffs, the operators reduce the amount needed to make the desired buffing face.

Semi-Loose Buffs
This buff is sewn up to the middle so that the outer portion is loose and the inner portion is stitched. This sewing gives the buff flexibility on the outer portion but stability when pressure is applied to the wheel.

Pocket Buffs
Bi-fold or tri-fold pockets are formed to build up firmness in a full disc buff. This wheel is used to buff or color plastics and metals where low operating temperature is required. The pockets also enhance the buff's ability to hold compound.

Packed Buffs
This is a softer version of a loose buff. Made by combining small spacer discs inside the large cloth discs, these wheels offer greater flexibility and cooler operating temperature. These qualities can be enhanced by the addition of extra spacer discs.

Polishing Wheels
Polishing Wheels are manufactured by cementing muslin discs together with an animal glue or proven cement. Canvas covers are applied to the sides to protect the edges from breakdown. Stitch spacing is available in 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2", depending upon your application's desired flexibility. These wheels are primarily used as Set-up Wheels with abrasive grain applied to the edge with glue. They also make excellent contact wheels for abrasive belts.
